I live in the NYC-area, and I haven't been keeping the closest tabs on these incidents, but the ones I do see in local media always (except one the other day with that former senator's niece) have a black assailant.

SPEZ: Also, it isn't specifically Asians being assaulted. A lot of people of various creeds are being assaulted. The assailants mostly seem to be mentally disturbed. Anyone who lives in NYC knows that we have always had an issue with homelessness & the mentally ill (mostly going hand-in-hand), and these disturbed individuals are most prevalent now and their actions are even more emboldened and irrational given the general trend towards lawlessness in the city.
