Oh, I could write so many things I saw in person, in Oakland. And in Berkeley - it's a fairly violent area, too. I racked up 7 new car windows there, 3 stereos, and everything in my trunk, including snow chains. I could have gone to the local swap meet and found them, but the cops didn't give a shit, the only thing I ever got from the Oakland PD was a form in the mail for my insurance.
I was lucky, though, because quite often the other cars broken into on my street were used as toilets by the crackheads. And I didn't get the car stolen outright, because that was incredibly common as well.
I was there two years. I saw and witnessed enough for one lifetime.
Yeah Oakland and Berkeley are the center of the shitlib paradise. In Berkeley I had to carry a young woman to the street corner after she'd been shot. Waited for the ambulance to come by. Barely missed getting shot myself.
Sad to say she didn't make it. Black kid had gone on a crime spree. Drugs, stolen cars and dead white people were part of his fun.
