Reminds me of Venezuela, where I spent several months living.
The socialists have complete dictator-level control there for decades. Because of that, and the failures of socialism, they destroyed the country, created mass poverty, destroyed the currency through hyperinflation, and destroyed the infrastructure along with creating a society that is rampant with violence and crime.
And the socialists at the top, in the government, are all getting rich. Chavez stole $1 billion to give to his daughter.
But the useful idiots that still support it, don't question any of it. All of the failures are blamed on the "right wing" and the "capitalists". They never question "maybe socialism doesn't work."
Kind of like Bernie, whose a multi-millionaire and just bought 3 houses, and who shills for things that give big corporations more power so that he can further enrich himself.
It amazes me how brainwashed many people have to be to not question any of it.
I spent some time in Bonnaire and met a few based Venezuelans. One of them still had the freakin rowboat they took to get there. The stories are pretty awful.
