Standard ball or frangible ammo is not likely to ignite LPG tanks. That said, cover there is a terrible idea. For one thing, against quality AR-15 ammo that tank cabinet is concealment, not cover, and for another, its a no-man's land. If the shooter closed on you, you're on an island away from any other cover. Better to run in the open when the shooter is far than be forced to run when he's focused on you and in close range.
In an outdoor space, the best option is almost always running and not taking cover. If you've got active rounds coming at you, sure get your head down. If shooting is happening in general nothing beats distance. Mass shooters are rarely marksman and even with an AR-15, 50 yards of distance makes you almost unhittable for the deranged homeless person the FBI doped up for that shooting.
