I remember they tried to blame the shooting on the video game DOOM because the shooters were fans of the game.
DOOM had been out for over 5 years at the time and was by that point considered to be old news by gamers. Half-Life was the first-person shooter that everybody was playing at the time the Columbine shooting happened.
That's just an urban legend. One of the shooters made a map called "UAC Labs". I've never played it, but the general consensus among DOOM players is that it was a mediocre map.
That map was trash. I have it saved on my computer just in case the DOOM community goes woke and deletes all maps made that could be considered offensive.
I remember vividly the vegas shooter happened the week before the Hearing Protection Act was likely to be passed. Hilary tweeted "imagine if he had a silencer and you couldn't hear the bullets" or some other obscenely idiotic concept before most even knew about the shooting. Followed by media scrubbing the event after the HPA was dismissed, yeaokay.gif.
There should be a chart of bills being reviewed, the topic, and the shootings overlayed.

UAC is the name of the space mega corp / PMC in the Doom series too. So tied to the game lore rather than anything related to the shooting.
