Mandatory racial sensitivity training? B.S. He is assuming that what happened is because he's black. For gosh sake show your damn ID and then leave when all is done. The key word here is cooperate whether you agree or not. Had there been an egregious, harmful action, take it to criminal court asap. Hire an attorney asap. File a complaint asap. BUT cooperate, period. I believe the passenger acted with bitterness due to his assumption he was stopped because he's black. Also, he harbors anger and so resists. No one wants to be mistreated. No one. However, obey authority and if necessary, fight it out in court. Bad cops deserve discipline and punishment for sure. BUT cooperate when stopped, period. My 17-yr.-old son got up in the AM and walked his dog around the retention pond behind our home. No sooner did he come back in the house when two deputies, guns in hands, walked up from behind the house and knocked on the front door. They said there was a robbery at gunpoint at the Pizza Hut behind our home and that my son fit the description of the perpetrator (black as he's African American, Irish Italian, wearing jean shorts, white T-shirt). I explained that he had just woken up to walk the dog, but that he would go to Pizza Hut with them to be identified by Pizza Hut workers as I taught him to respect and obey authority (most especially law enforcement). Also, that by cooperating with the deputies it would help them rule out that it was not my son which was the case. This way, they could continue looking for the perpetrator. Cooperate. Don't let pride get in the way. Don't let hate, racism, bitterness, anger prevent the use of common sense. We have a judicial system that will punish bad cops. If not, keep fighting the system. Fight for your rights through the system. There is no excuse for crime, period. What happened in the car incident was not bad at all. There is so much crime, however. Law and order must rule for all Americans. We all must follow the law. Black folks who feel white cops are racist should apply to be cops in their own neighborhoods and take over protecting them. That would get the white cops out.

My only disagreement with what you wrote here was that one should certainly protest an abuse, but not resist. As an example, one would say "I do not consent to this search" ... but not get into a fist fight to avoid being searched.
