Conspiracy theorists are going to hate me for this.
The little lines you see behind jets are called contrails. Any engine that runs of hydrocarbons, including jet fuel, produces water vapor and carbon dioxide as exhaust. At high altitude, that water vapor condenses. What you're seeing is an artificial cloud.
People mistakenly associate contrails with a few questionable experiments performed by the US during the Cold War. To model how nuclear fallout might travel across the country, they secretly released radioisotopes from planes just to see where they landed.
I don’t get into that shit but I’ve seen with my own eyes sometimes they disperse and sometimes not. Just wind patterns etc? I’ve seen them linger for quite a while vs disappear almost instantly
Many factors at play there. Altitude, wind speed, humidity, etc. But the fact remains, the trails that you can see are harmless water vapor. As always, the stuff that should genuinely scare you is much harder to detect.
