My mother had 2 falls -- 1st one cracked pelvis and broken arm, so she could not even get in or out of her wheelchair by herself. 2nd was simple Colles fracture and arm cast for 6 weeks.
Lesson learned from 1st fall --- NO LOOSE RUGS!!! 2nd fall was onto carpet while getting out of chair.
I now use handrails like GEOTUS used them on AF1 -- ALL THE TIME!!!!
