Aside from the good pay, the working conditions are safe although sometimes inefficient because of the safety standards that are met. I have paid sick days and benefits as well as representation if needed. I can admit that there are people within the organizations that get an easy ride. I don’t even think it can last forever
I really appreciate you taking the time to reply! I ask because I have such limited experience! Really refreshing change of pace to hear! Without doxxing/giving too much info online, what type of union did you say again? Outdoor workers for what industry? Tree climbers?
Yes for the most part I am happy. The wages are above average and the work life is as safe as possible. The Union provided representation for me when I was faced with a boss that wanted me gone. I still have my job. They negotiate a wage increase every three years and I also can use my union dues as a tax deduction. It hasn’t been all roses as some people get protection that shouldn’t. I don’t think I fall in that category. I work my ass off most days. It’s been a good experience overall.
Does it? What unions pass the sniff test to you? Genuinely interested, I've found unions are pretty common ground to despise across the board.
Boilermaker, teamsters, loco enginers, laborors, maintenance of way and operators international are very good unions
am represented by a public union for out door workers.
And happy with it? What do they provide for their dues? How has it affected you in the day to day ability to do your job?
