It's even simpler than that. "People die". Period. You can't save all of them, and trying to will destroy everything we've built.

I'm reminded of an old Bill Hicks bit, mocking pro-lifers: "...do me a favor: don’t lock arms and block medical clinics. If you’re so pro-life, lock arms and block cemeteries." I feel like the sentiment applies to these "if it just saves one life" assholes. "There will be no death on this planet."
