I know an Egyptian Christian who speaks Arabic, she does not say “Allah” when she says God. She said all the Christian friends and family, who speak Arabic, also do not say Allah, they say God.

If Allah is “god” in Arabic, why do they say Allah when speaking English instead of saying God? They’re giving him a proper name, and distinguishing him from God

Muslims use it as a proper name. Christians and Jews when speaking Arabic use it as the generic word God. When Christian Arabs speak English they use English word God. When they speak Arabic they use Allah.

Since Allah is a personal name for Muslims, they use it even in English just like a Jew might say Elohim (usually changed to Eloqim) when speaking English even though Elohim literally means God in Hebrew.
