Stop and think for a second. I don't know if you know much about British-style parliaments, but Green parties are generally somewhere well out to the loony left. Many were founded by dyed-in-the-wool legitimate card-carrying communists.
Now that you have a basic idea about the ideological position of a Green party, you might get an inkling as to why there wasn't a sudden desire to report their colleague. It also represents political power that they now hold over their colleague and is something they can use for leverage down track.
If you want another example of how shittily politicians are handling things, just look at how Australia's Federal parliament is eating itself alive (at least on the Government side) over misogynistic behaviours and sexual assault claims (noting that the leftist press are staying rather quiet about the left side of politics).
