A lot of conservatives are scared of touching white nationalism or anything that has a race associated with it because of years of leftist propaganda being fed down their throat. Race is bad. I'm colorblind. Race neutrality etc... It's a soft spot for conservatives.
I suspect he's just one of those average conservatives. There's actually a lot of valuable discussions around race and it doesn't necessarily mean one is racist but one may realize that nations are better when unified and race is actually an aspect of it all. What is going on now in western countries is a social experiment which seemingly has become disastrous. One only needs to look at history to see how this typically plays out.
Because like it or not we’ve been a multiracial country since our inception. The first slave owner was even a black dude. The first casualty of the Revolutionary War was half black and half Native American.
Our problem isn’t being multiracial, it’s being multicultural. If everybody is different races but adhere to the same ideals, traditions and foundational beliefs, who cares what color they are?
Mostly true but race isn't actually based on colour, that's a "new thing". You think the Irish thought they were Scottish 300 years ago? They'd have called themselves different races.
Notice how the Japanese, the Chinese, the Korean and all other Asian nations are distinguishable by characteristics? They are all their own race despite all being Asian.
If the USA shut down their border tomorrow, they could create their own race of people given enough time and that was essentially happening up until the mass push for immigrants. Many white nationalists simply want to maintain their heritage which is mainly white dominant, like how leftists talk about "systematic racism being whiteness", because the traditions and values that makeup the country are based mostly on white people's influence.
A lot of white nationalists and supremacists take an extreme positions because of the extreme harm being caused to what they consider to be their ethnicity. In actuality, I think you'd see a lot of them be fine with integrating with the people already here if we shut down the borders completely then allowed people to segregate and mingle however they wish, without forced integration or forcing anyone to have to accept others based on race. Overtime (centuries) you'd see a general intermingling and acceptance until a single dominant race formed. But everyone would need to accept American values which have a history of being mostly white.
And yes, skin color plays a role in it all. Not everyone likes the physical appearance even of different races or their smell or behavior that all may be slightly different. So what, people shouldn't be forced to like something they don't and forced integration is not a good thing because it causes divisions.
