First of all, it IS your job to save others' lives. You live in society, in a community. You're not going to jail for killing a mass shooter. If you shoot them in the act, you're fine. If you execute them as they try to give up, you're also fine because you're going to tell the cops that he still looked like a threat to you. It's not your job to have the training of a cop, nor is it your duty to take a criminal into custody if they give up.
