I do think the facts of his case were fucked up from the little that I know about it, and I do think was was made an example out of specifically because of his beliefs, but the guy clearly was an Alt-Righter/white nationalist. Dont see the point in pretending he wasnt.

It doesn't matter what you believe, what group you belong to or who you hang with. The only thing that should matter in a courtroom is what you actually did or did not do during the issue in question and your actual intent. Obviously, the man was being chased by a baying mob and his car attacked. That should have been some type of defense for the worst of the charges. At the most he should have been convicted of reckless homicide or involuntary manslaughter, not convicted for terroristic murder and thrown away for life.
