I saw a meme a while back where somebody did the math on how many Twitter users there were, verse how many Twitter users actually post (minority), verse how many of those posts actually get likes/attention.
Basically, less than 0.1% of the American population is writing the social media narrative, and another <1% is "liking" it.
Then consider that Twitter is a global platform, and most of those users aren't even American citizens, or living on American soil.
