I don’t hate Muslims. I have a lot of concerns about Islam, but I don’t hate an entire race of people based on the actions of a small percentage of them. If I thought that way I would have to hate every ethnicity including white people. There are good and bad people in every single ethnicity, I have had Muslim friends and coworkers who are peaceful people who love America and hate terrorists. I have had white classmates and coworkers who are self avowed communists who hate this country and have called for conservatives to be rounded up and put into concentration camps.

Most people happen to think the faith they were raised in is the 'right' one, and coincidentally most religions that are dominant in the world are ones who hold up certain fundamentals that make for a peaceful society (respect authority and your elders, don't kill, don't steal, cherish family and breeding, have self discipline, etc.) and for the most part many within these cultures just kind of ignore the ones that are inconvenient or not constructive to a society. For example, Polyester or Shellfish, in the Old Testament. Part of Christianity's big appeal was its shucking off some of the old Jewish rules that weren't so conducive to society and survival anymore (such as eat pork products as sanitation and food management made it a lot less likely to kill you than it did in the OT times).

All of that is based on the assumption that every person who identifies as Muslim is a devout extremist which is simply not the case. There are also different sects of Islam that hold different beliefs and interpretations of the quran, just like Christianity and Judaism have different sects who focus their beliefs on different parts of the Bible and the torah respectively.
Are there problems with Islam and some of its messages? Absolutely, and people should certainly be cautious of those with extremist views of it because of the issues you pointed out. I agree that those who strictly adhere to Sharia law are not compatible with western society, but not all Muslims do and many of the more casual observers of Islam flee their home countries to get away from extremists. Keep in mind that the majority of the victims of Islamic terrorism are other Muslims.

I don’t hate Muslims. I have a lot of concerns about Islam, but I don’t hate an entire race of people based on the actions of a small percentage of them. If I thought that way I would have to hate every ethnicity including white people. There are good and bad people in every single ethnicity, I have had Muslim friends and coworkers who are peaceful people who love America and hate terrorists. I have had white classmates and coworkers who are self avowed communists who hate this country and have called for conservatives to be rounded up and put into concentration camps.
The problem is the media only shows us the worst members of each ethnicity. When we hear about Muslims its usually terrorism related, when we hear about black people its usually about gang violence or BLM riots, when we hear about white people its usually pedophiles or mass shooters, when we hear about latinos its usually illegal immigrants or drug dealers.
I strongly believe in MLK’s dream of judging someone by the content of their character, not the color of their skin. I don’t want people to pass judgement on me for being white, so I won’t pass judgement on others for being non-white.

I am using the term broadly, The vast majority of people living in those kinds of countries practice Islam and are referred to as Muslims so that you don’t have to list off the dozens of countries with majority muslim populations. And my point still stands, most Muslims are not terrorists, and many are more casual followers. They aren’t all devout extremists. You’re arguing semantics. My concern lies with the religion and its frequent bastardization. Just because something is in the quran does not mean every member follows it or believes in it. Do you think all Christians follow every rule laid out in the bible? God in the old testament was vengeful, destroyed cities, struck down non-believers for worshipping false idols, and murdered most of the world’s population with the great flood. The book of Leviticus is full of a bunch of absurd bullshit rules that only the most extreme Christians adhere to. Islam is also the only other religion that reveres Jesus, he isn’t necessarily considered to be the son of God by many Muslims but they at least consider him a prophet and God’s chosen holy servant.
Think about when the media talks about Christianity. Are they showing your everyday average Christian? Nope its always the whackjobs like the Westboro Baptist Church or some doomsday cult. They do the same shit to Muslims.

Most people happen to think the faith they were raised in is the 'right' one, and coincidentally most religions that are dominant in the world are ones who hold up certain fundamentals that make for a peaceful society (respect authority and your elders, don't kill, don't steal, cherish family and breeding, have self discipline, etc.) and for the most part many within these cultures just kind of ignore the ones that are inconvenient or not constructive to a society. For example, Polyester or Shellfish, in the Old Testament. Part of Christianity's big appeal was its shucking off some of the old Jewish rules that weren't so conducive to society and survival anymore (such as eat pork products as sanitation and food management made it a lot less likely to kill you than it did in the OT times).
Those who adhere to those things most people have shuffled away and ignored can be dangerous. And people don't like cognitive disonance ("believe the bible/koran/torah"/"some parts of it are just impractical") so they may do an awkward hem-haw lip service. Those people must decide where they fall on it---are they going to approve of terrorism in the name of their God or have to find a new way to justify morals that they otherwise have an intrinsic understanding of the value of, but have never had to think too much beyond 'holy book says so'?
So does the Muslim religion have the text to encourage dangerous extremism? Sure does. Is the faith practiced in cultures that may encourage this interpretation? Sure does, when politically expedient. So does Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Shintoism... find a major world religion without a kinda bloody history to it. But most of them are also the majority religion of a reasonably prosperous nation or region, too.
(I am inclined to think Christianity and maybe Shintoism as practice by the Japanese merged hodge-podge with Buddhism are the two 'best' in terms of 'least likely to hurt anyone, while upholding some moral fundamentals' in the present day, but that's because Japan and White, Christian nations are overwhelmingly the most peaceful. And the fact that we've still got a boot on Japan's neck keeping them from having an outward facing army might be a bigger part of that than anything. Is every Christian a devout extremist like the whackos at the Westboro Baptist Church (whom the media loves to use as their example of Christians)? There are also different sects of Islam that hold different beliefs and interpretations of the quran, just like Christianity and Judaism have different sects who focus their beliefs on different parts of the Bible and the torah respectively.
Are there problems with Islam and some of its messages? Absolutely, and people should certainly be cautious of those with extremist views of it because of the issues you pointed out. I agree that those who strictly adhere to Sharia law are not compatible with western society, but not all Muslims do and many of the more casual observers of Islam flee their home countries to get away from extremists. Keep in mind that the majority of the victims of Islamic terrorism are other Muslims.
Edit: also remember that our beloved President Trump recognized these differences too. Its why his “Muslim ban” only targeted countries with extremist activity instead of every Muslim majority country.

I do want to echo the distinction that Muslim is not a race. Indeed most Arab people are Caucasian people. What concerns me is specifically cultural and religious.
I too have had very good Muslim friends. One man and his brothers specifically. They are first-generation immigrants, their father is a wealthy Arab man.
This is what I've observed of the brothers. There's a bunch of them. The two oldest ones have been here the longest and are the most Westernized. My friend is a sci fi nerd, has gone deep into pop culture, has essentially become an atheist and as the last few years have gone one he has become more of a Leftist than he was before.
He has always been open to conservative American perspective although it's not his default.
His oldest brother has always been alright. We're not close but we like each other. He's kind of an alpha male, capitalist, fitness minded, financially focused man. He totally takes care of all of his younger brothers and even houses them. He did get my friend into lifting and going for higher quality women.

The things they believe, the way they interact with people, some of them can become very violent at the drop of a hat, I have witnessed it first hand. People who have been properly diagnosed with illnesses like schizophrenia should never get their hands on a gun. Any mental illness that causes hallucinations, delusions, or has violent tendencies should disqualify you from owning a gun. You can try to tell me otherwise but you will never convince me. Try having a lengthy chat with a schizophrenic off their meds (sudden discontinuation of meds is very common for them) and see how you feel about them owning guns after.
