For the first 2 stimulus checks my husband and I received under the Trump administration we got a check and a prepaid Visa. We have never provided bank account information to the IRS. Now, for the 3rd stimulus check my husband got a direct deposit into his account. How did they know what his bank account number was to do that? Seems a bit unsettling that it was “found” without us providing it to them. Maybe there is an explanation I haven’t considered but it does seems strange to me. Anyone else have this happen?

How did you file your 2019 taxes did a refund go into that account. We actually signed up for the direct deposit when the first one came out.

We always end up owing so never a reason to provide them with direct deposit info.

How did you pay? Bank draft, card, or check?

Good point. I’d sent a check to pay taxes out of the account they deposited stimulus money in. Sounds like they may have pulled account and routing numbers from payments made to them. Trump admin didn’t do that.
