This border situation and illegal immigration problem is entirely of our own making. And it has become an absolute humanitarian disaster. Those of us (such as myself) that consider ourselves "conservatives" are not without culpability here. And before you blast me, hear me out.

I didn't do a lot of smart things when I was younger. But one of the few smart things I did do was learn to speak Spanish. This has been a great joy for me, as it has opened a lot of doors. And I thoroughly enjoy the language. Through this ability, I have learned a lot more about how disgraceful the system we have set up actually is. And a good chunk of that is on us.

We have been fighting the same battle on illegal immigration for 60 years. And it has been the identical battle since the '86 amnesty bill. Every single election cycle we are stuck in the same bullshit arguments. Republicans are racist and hate hispanics, and Democrats care more than we do. Both are farcical. But we keep getting stuck there. This perpetuates this outrageous system where we continue to be the only country in the world without active border enforcement.

The people coming here are overwhelmingly seeking to exit absolutely destitute conditions. The drug cartels have obliterated any semblance of tranquility in northern Mexico at the behest of we conservatives who have for decades continued to elect representatives that pay to fight a lost cause "War on Drugs" in Mexico instead of within our borders. There are over 100k murders a year in Mexico, mostly as a result of the cartels.

There are estimates that Mexican drug cartels earn between $500-$700 billion a year from drugs alone into the US. This is insane. This is a retailer that dwarfs the next 10 biggest legitimate retailers combined in the US. Nobody can tell me that a business of this stature could exist without tacit US approval. And it probably is another skim where there is 10% for the big guy, or they fund raise to pay for things that the US taxpayer might lose their mind about if it were done through the legitimate congressional appropriations process.

Obama destroyed what little function there was in Honduras when he first took office. Now the entire place is like a war zone. You would want to act like there was a curfew and not go outside after dark in most places. It is like Lord of the Flies there. Could anyone expect that those with the means would not attempt to go somewhere else for a life not like this one? Of course not.

El Salvador is similarly dysfunctional. And appears to be a training ground for guerilla enforcers (MS-13) that carry out all sorts of black ops for the deep state. This country lives in eternal fear. Nobody would stay if they had another option.

Which leads me to the shit show that is our immigration system. We don't have one. We have large swaths of people and political leaders that pretty much openly advertise that everyone should just show up. We also have made the process to come here legally from those countries next to impossible. We simply don't take people from there. The number of legit visas we do issue that are not chain migration connected are so tiny. And this is legislatively purposeful.

These people do not have realistic options to become legal members of our society. They can do a handful of things to do this: (1) Marry a US citizen; (2) Give birth to a US citizen (which is helpful but does not guarantee anything); (3) Go back to their home countries and apply to return legally, but since they were here illegally they are barred from reentry for 10 years; or (4) do something mildly illegal, and hope the immigration judge does not find you to be an ongoing threat; then you will get a work permit and can stay.

To those of you who continually say "I don't give a shit, deport them all! It is on them, they knew they were breaking the law, it isn't my problem..." this is entirely an unreasonable and unrealistic undertaking. Sure, theoretically this is true. But the economic disruption would be monumental. Have fun getting all those Americans to fill the construction jobs instead of collecting checks from Uncle Sam. These are not exploitative jobs; they pay extremely well. Americans simply won't do this manual labor at just about any price it seems.

The truly exploitative labor is the legal system of imported labor they have set up. The seasonal farm workers are amongst the most exploited. The wages are allowed to be next to nothing, because the employer "provides food and housing" which is not unlike the "food and housing" convicts receive when sentenced to prison. And often, these people have to pay 10% to the big guy under coercion, so the money is even worse for them.

Of course, I do not advocate for, nor do I want a system that gives citizenship to people who came here illegally. This would be outrageous. And unnecessary. The people that come here illegally just want a better life, to be able to provide for their families both here and abroad, and would love the chance to be able to freely travel to and from their countries of origin. Citizenship is not of interest except to Democrats, who want more votes.

But we cannot expect anything less than what we've got so long as we continue to push (1) deportation for all; (2) endless drug wars that put small time economies up against the purchasing power of the American consumer; and (3) a legal immigration system that simply does not accept sufficient numbers of people.

This subject is more comprehensive than this post. But this Biden Border Shit Show (BBSS) has greatly upset me. I feel absolute disgust at the images I've seen coming from that border. This should not happen anywhere. There ought to be severe consequences.

$25-$30 an hour isn't slave labor wage. You can't get anyone to do that type of work for less. I know, I try every day.
