A couple years ago my local NJ paper had a story about a gun buyback event where they said somebody turned in an 1800's Winchester worth 6 figures, for the $50 or whatever the event people paid that day. Story also said the event sponsors planned to sell that for market value to fund future buyback events. How did the guy in this story demonstrate to the cops holding the buyback that his 1776 boomsticks were operable? Did they let him fire them? Kids in my high school woodshop class made 'zip guns' that were only good for one shot, sometimes not even one shot, somehow a rubber band was used to fire the things. Seems like it would be easy to cash in on these buyback things, so long as the thing you turn in doesn't have to be legal.

Muzzleloadera only have 2 moving parts. The lock and triggers. The thing is unless it was an old cheap rifle you’ll have 2-300 dollars of parts easily in it, plus more for the wood.
