Grandmother tweaked her back a few days ago, called me over to help her with the remote call with her doc. So I get her set up on her phone and stay in the room in case she needs something repeated (hard of hearing). It's not grandma's usual doctor, but a lady who apparently works for the same practice and was the one doing online calls today. Doctor asks some basic questions (South American accent not helping grandma), prescribes some pain meds and instructions for taking care of her back in case the meds don't work, so far so good.
Suddenly asks "now grandma have you taken the covid vaccine?" grandma answers "no" because she's been on the fence with it and doesn't see the point at her old age.
Doctor suddenly goes "oh now if you don't take the vaccine you won't be allowed to go outside" leaving me going wtf?
Grandma politely declines and says she doesn't care it's not like she gets out much anyways, Doctor suddenly addresses me "hey grandson you should convince her to take the vaccine or she's going to die, you love her don't you? you want to keep her healthy don't you?". I'm just sitting there shocked for like a nanosecond before telling her "yes I love my grandma dearly, and it's her body her choice, I appreciate your concern".
Doctor's face scrunches up and then wishes us a nice day, tells grandma her medication instructions and then hangs up.
What the actual fuck? Not allowed to go outside anymore??? Seriously fellow Pedes keep an eye on doctors you're not 100% familiar with, they're selling some biased snake oil.
Doctors, while generally educated, are not always smart. If I'm not mistaken, corona is almost always spread indoors, not outside. I don't think I'd trust grandma's health with this person.
A lot of the younger doctors are rabid leftists who get into doctoring to "help people". Never discuss guns with your pediatrician or leave your child alone with them. Don't let doctors bully you into any treatment. For God's sake, don't let them tell you the Covid vaccine is mandatory to go outside. It isn't even a vaccine. it's a genetic modification therapy that most companies abandoned because of horrible side effects, usually when encountering a modified variant of the virus they were designed to stop.
Always know that you are entitled to a second opinion. Or a third, fourth, fifth and howeverany it takes to make you feel comfortable. It's your body, and YOU make the decisions regarding how it's treated.
Oh, id also suggest you also contact the drs office and inform them that under no circumstances do you ever want your grandmother to be seen by that Dr again. Inform them that she was pushing your grandmother to take a treatment that she was neither comfortable with nor desired.
