Octavius never outwardly declared himself emperor, and he still let the senate have some power

Edit: and to add on to that, after restructuring Rome, the empire would see many many years of horrific evil at the hands of shit tier emperors and dimwit emperors used to enrich the FBI I mean praetorian guard.

It’s the same problem that monarchies have, rome just lied about being a dumber version of a monarchy so people wouldn’t revolt.

The point of the post is, when one guy tries to reform for the people and the elites prevent him from doing so, the next guy the people support tends to not be so nice.... Caesar's example is not the only one. At no point was I advocating for an emperor or saying it would be a good idea, simply pointing out the parallels and pondering possibilities.
