Lower category misdemeanors don't usually trigger a firearm ban. I think the issue is that he was already known to the FBI for extremist connections, and if anyone had been doing their due diligence, the firearm purchase would have raised immediate red flags, and warranted some type of investigation or intervention.

Instead they're too busy harassing Trump supporters for attending the Jan. 6 rally and searching for Lady Gaga's dog. Inept, intentional, it doesn't matter anymore. Most intelligence agencies have proven themselves to be a detriment to American safety and freedom.

They don't know about anyone, but they have a massive database of info on everyone, so when something like the Boulder shooting happens, the FBI can punch the suspect's name into their computer and say "oh yeah we know all about that guy"
