There's a difference between being anti globalist and aligning with Russian expansionism. Putin is just a different type of globalist. Under Putin, Russia invaded Georgia, Crimea and Ukraine. He kidnapped Estonian officials, aided and supported our enemies during active engagements, sides with China on international matters and screws with the EU's natural gas (the EU being our ACTUAL ally). Putin is just a globalists in the 19th century mode.

I think painting Russia as "exapansionist" is ludicrous.

The United States operates a global network of military installations and is by far the largest operator of military bases abroad with locations in dozens of nations on every continent, with 38 "named bases...

In 2018, it was reported that Russia operates at least 21 significant military facilities overseas... The majority of Russia's military bases and facilities are located in former Soviet republics.

"Former Soviet Republics"

You mean the 30 or so odd countries, the Russians invaded and then occupied, some of them for almost a century?

The only reason Russia isn't countering the USA militarily on a global scale in terms of bases on military support for our enemies, is because the Soviet Union fell apart and Russia's economy has never recovered. Russia has one bit of leverage, the natural gas pipeline into the EU and it's playing that for all its worth while grasping for ports in the Middle East.

Look, see the thing is, Russia is not our ally. It can never be our ally as long as it continues to bully its way to get what it wants globally, silences dissidents and kills off domestic political opposition.

The problem isn't that we aren't friends with Russia. The problem is the left in our country is a lot like Putin's Russia just with a few differences on cultural issues such as Christianity, diversity and LGBTQIA++.
