Good. I've been saying this for nearly 20 years now. There should not be open ended, tax payer funded student loans for degree programs with little to chance of employment. If you want to get a Gender Studies degree, pay for it out of your own pocket. The tax payer will get much more benefit teaching youth actual job skills.

Subsidized student loans have done remarkable damage to our society. Once you detach consequence from actions terrible choices are made. If schools were left to fund themselves with worthwhile degrees, all these useless majors would disappear in a heartbeat.

It's for scholarships, not loans.

2
Maximumoccupancy120 2 points ago +5 / -3

I think there’s some justification for scholarship for fine arts such as literature, music and art but less for student loans. I would consider fine art studies elective education. It would be like taxpayer funded loans for cars.

4
Marshall2 4 points ago +4 / -0

NO JUSTIFICATION exists for using other people's money for frivolous pursuits. Do it on your own dime.

0
Maximumoccupancy120 0 points ago +1 / -1

Fine arts is not frivolous. It’s what separates us from savages. Mozart, Shakespeare, Monet, the Renaissance artists, etc are the hallmarks of civilization.

1
murph1953 1 point ago +1 / -0

What civilization? Today's heap of dung? The 1960s hippies/marxists got PhDs and are now the wise greybeards of academia - and look at the garbage today which they created.

Wow, man. Far out, dude.

1

Marshall2 0 points ago +1 / -1

Not really. That's just Fine Arts propaganda used to get productive people to support those who aren't. I like looking at a good painting as much as the next guy. But if they can't support themselves doing it, it's UNCIVILIZED.

16
RussianAgent13 16 points ago +21 / -5

NO liberal arts programs (even History) should be subsidized. You can learn all of that stuff online for free. (or small fees for lectured courses)

Engineering stuff does benefit from mentorship and teamwork so a class setting is helpful, and it results in a career that benefits our economy. Even if Gender Studies were legitimate soft science, there's nothing at universities you can't learn on the Internet.

6
Maximumoccupancy120 6 points ago +9 / -3

I disagree with that. Fine Arts is important for civilization. Scholarships but not loans.

3
Marshall2 3 points ago +3 / -0

PRIVATE scholarships. Anyone can give a gift for any legal reason. But fine arts are rarely produced in a college setting. It is usually wasted time.

Should just fund STEM classes and let students find ways to pay for non STEM classes. Woke studies will still get some money for having non woke classes.

1
NotQuiteHuman 1 point ago +2 / -1

And, of course, the study of history has nothing to offer us. Only Science, mighty Science, which is always settled and always supports whoever is handing out the grants.

1
RageQuit 1 point ago +1 / -0

STEM classes are less likely to be infected with communist propaganda and will contribute to the employability of the person.

History is fantastic, but enough of it should have been learned in HS. Everything else should be gained from self study.

0
NotQuiteHuman 0 points ago +1 / -1

STEM classes are less likely to be infected with communist propaganda

I'm sorry, have you not had enough time to self-study the history currently going on?

Everything else should be gained from self study.

You've not taken enough STEM or history classes to know that "should" and "is" are two different propositions.

1
Marshall2 1 point ago +1 / -0

Haven't you heard? History has been replaced with social injustice mythology. Who, what, where and when have been cancelled and only the mythology of why remains.

5

They need to restrict student loans for majors the don't lead to jobs

1
Orion101 1 point ago +1 / -0

So once all of the stem jobs go to H-1Bs then the government can stop training people for stem jobs. Easy way to justify slashing higher ed budgets: open the immigration floodgates to juice the unemployment rates through the roof for US graduates, then cut funding for all the newly-created "unemployable majors". Perverse incentives are a thing.

American companies actively try not to hire Americans, and then they wonder why companies like Intel are constantly having problems.

5
ezekielBulver 5 points ago +9 / -4

its because after 4 years of university the students are useless, even in STEM. Every single student we've hired on, or I've trained has been useless out of college. Takes anywhere between 6-12 months to get them to the state you might hope to hire at.

I think Florida should be fine. It already had a pretty long win streak of Republicans winning there, despite its reputation as a swing state. I'd consider it a lean-Republican state now, and it seems possible for it to eventually become a firmly red state.

Labyrinth9000 3 points ago +3 / -0

I'll consider it, all you have to do is make women accountable for false accusations and send them to prison.

2
MrAnderson1776 2 points ago +2 / -0

Well you're smarter than the average guy. If you're single guy it's well worth your time and effort to research what each state's laws wrt these types of things.

There is "no one thing to look for" so tactics apply. Here are things to research:

Statute of limitations- In some liberal states, they literally never end so if you're with a girl and it goes south, you have to worry that she'll lie about things for , in effect, the rest of your life. You don't want to live date or really even set foot in those states. Some states have very short statute of limitations, three years.

Look for horror stories of anti-male family court- There's a ton of websites out there. Read the stories with an eye to noting what states the horror stories are happening in. Whatever is happening in that story can happen to you there because, obviously, it's not against the law (and even if it is, it's still done).

Don't assume red states are safe places. Some family courts in red states fulfill the worst stereotypes of corrupt red states. Red state = sfae state is a BAD rule of thumb.

Paul Elam and this website is your best friend:

https://avoiceformen.com/

Paul Elam was a hard core feminist for decades, supporting their movement and deicating his life to adancing feminist causes. Then, one day, he said some bit of redpill they didn't like and they cancelled him.

He knows the inside of the belly of the beast like no one else. Non hyperbolic, hi IQ, adult, honest and fearless are words that describe this guy.

Finally, not getting married and starting a family is a very bad outcome. It's not the worst outcome. The worst outcome is what Mia Farrow tried to do to Woody Allen which is put him in prison for the rest of his life for a crime he didn't commit. That's the worst possible outcome and one to be avoided at all cost including marriage and a family.

But not getting married and starting a family is the second worst outcome unless you don't want kids.

Shit people try like mail order brides- are terrible. A mail order bride 1) doesn't love you 2) has all the rights in the state you reside in anyways.

The key to being safe in love is judging character- don't pick the wrong person- and you it's 10x harder to judge the character of someone not from your culture.

Finally the challenge of attracting a mate. Supposing the person isn't going to screw you over, you have to make them want to date you in the first place. Look at your market value. Women care about money, height, fame, and personality, in that order. Money is the big one and it's why men fight so fiercely to get it and keep it. You can be almost anything but if you have enough money, you're golden.

You want to increase you market value so you get more fish in your net so you have a better chance of finding a good one.

I totally recommend every siongle word that Jordan Peterson has ever uttered on this topic. 12 Rules for Life and his new book are both great ways to become more organized and driven and therefore more successful and more attractive to more women. That's pretty much how that works.

2
Labyrinth9000 2 points ago +2 / -0

So how am I gonna know one day if I find someone then 10 years later despite doing all I can she wont end up sipping wine and complaining to her resentful friends that she feels "miserable" despite all the financial safety and want someone else? Seen it happen before. Notice this is the most comfortable era in history women ever lived in and they are more miserable and depressed than ever?

1
MrAnderson1776 1 point ago +1 / -0

The problem is real and there are no simple answers.

Avoid- drinkers and people who need stimulation and excitement. This isn't something you ask them about, it's something you observe in them. These types will always break contracts and get bored with ANYONE no matter how wonderful they are. It's how they're wired. Girls who go out for girls night with their girlfriends I do not consider marriage material. Girls who think it's cool to have a batchelorette parties with male strippers and say it's just in fun- ditto. I never did anything like that and wouldn't have dreampt of it. It's just a blatant violation of what a relationship is about.

Avoid- girls who are relentlessly happy and giggly. They are unproven at best; they're still in their happy girlhood and even they don't know how they're going to act when they're unhappy or challeneged.

A lot of girls just skate through life because they're beautiful. Guys do the same thing on their looks , but we're concerned with girls here, so yeah, beautiful women are not required to try hard in personal relationships and are used to having a lot of attention and power despite that lack of investment and effort. They're not to be avoided per se.; we're profiling here , we're working with averages that apply to different types of people.

Look for tells of good people. Some of these are:

Gratitude- people who express gratitude for what they have are good people. People who feel feel lucky to have what they have are good people. The opposite- bitching about people, work, whatever is also a tell. Eveyone complains but constantly gossiping and bitching is a tell. Is she a bitch to people who she has no use for, like waiters, for no reason? That's another tell.

Conscientiousness- concern that they're living up to expectations and have done right or a good enough job and honesty across the board are big tells of quality people. If they cheat on their taxes, they'll cheat on you because they see rules as optional if they don't like them.

Those are two big sieves for decent mates. The big thing is- don't bring these topics up. Wait and see when a situation naturally arises how they act. If the wrong person comes to understand that these are thing important to you, they'll fake it.

I've been in lots of situations where the girl said or did something in conversation or when we were out and in that exact moment I knew it was over but never gave her a hint anything had just happened inside me. Then, shortly thereafter, I broke up but never gave her the real reason because I don't want it getting around what I am looking for.

Also know this- You will be the target and recipient of the worst of her behavior. Guaranteed. So find out what that worst is.

That's what happens in a long term relationship. You WILL become "the problem" if only for an hour or a moment. What is she like at her very worst to people she fucking hates ? You're going to get that at some time or another.

Other very bad things to look for are contempt and disrespect. These are instant death to any relationship. About 18 months into a relationship is when this first starts surfacing if it's going to , maybe 24 months.

This is totally fatal .

If you get what you would describe or feel as contempt or disrespect on a basic level, don't waste your time getting mad. Actually, it's time to celebrate that this long hidden card she was holding has been put on the table; so now you know to walk away.

18-24 months into a relationship, things are getting serious. If this makes its appearance then, again, just eat it in the moment then slightly thereafter roll it up and walk away.

People who will give you sarcastic contempt or disrespect intended to humiliate you are people who are absolutely not going to stay with you. Zero doubt. She's sick of you. getting sick of you. thinks she can do better, thinks she deseves better, doesn't get you, doesn't get people like you and doesn't care to. One or all of those and it doesn't matter which one or why. This is your un signal, so heed it without pity or remorse.

The biggest things that saved me over my course of being with women is 1) I learned about beautiful women and 2) I didn't marry the person I really really wanted when I first started falling in love. Thank GOD for that. How badly you want someone is not a measure of their fitness. This screws people up enormously.

Anyways this is a little long but for a really good advice on tap I recommend Dr. Drew and Adam Corrolla when they're talking about relationships. They used to do a show called LoveLine and also they continue to talk about the relationships in their current shows. Corolla really has his head screwed on straight when it comes to women and relationships.

Finally, don't do what a lot of men do and feel like a loser becaues you get rejected or are single. Most rejection is a gift in disguise. Being alone iis better than being poorly accompanied. By a lot. Being alone might one day be rectified. Being in a bad marriage nad having your kids taken away and your paycheck cut in half and given to a woman who fucking hates your guts and is teching your kids to do the same is far far worse.

Observations- The absolute biggest studs I know to a person had terrible failed marriages because they made the mistake of marrying to the limits of their market power.

The women they married essentially treat life like a non-stop attention party that they have always RSVP to, which is basically true.

Even the most desirable man in the world is going to get used and abused by these women and eventually family court.

These women live for themselves and they get no signal from society to stop until they're older and their looks have faded and then... they become feminists.

-Rich men hide the fact of their wealth if they can in order to screen out golddiggers. Take a tip from them. You are screening for character. Just let her be who she really is. Humans present their best selves to fool each other. Learn to be a passive silent note-taker and observer of people.

  • People who got effed in marriage can't read people just get gobsmacked one day by what she just did. This applies trebly to guys who think they're going to go find a wife in some other culture. They are trying to use the fact that they live in America to trade up. They have ZERO ability to read the people they are dating. What does her behavir tell you ? You have no idea. You just don't know if it's her or how women in her culture act or if she is using you to get to the US and then once she's married and 18 months have past WHAM whole new girl surfaces- the real one. You can't sort all that shit out; you're just complicating the problem for yourself. Nevermind people who tell you otherwise, dating outside your culture is high risk to say the least. I avoided it entirely for these reasons.

Good luck!!!

They should definitely prioritize “safe” degrees, but certain fields like art or music having limited scholarships for people who really stand out, those are the people that get jobs from it. They should however restrict student loans for things that are not likely to get jobs. Let the banks assume the risk and they will figure out your ROI

17
HiddenDekuScrub 17 points ago +18 / -1

The problem isn't art, but how it is taught. Having been an art student myself, I can tell you that there's maybe a couple classes that actually teach you how to produce something, but the vast majority of it is teaching you how to be a leech, living off government grants, and maybe thinking about painting something political. (And not conservative! That's not allowed! Nor is anything aesthetic.)

Ironically you're better off in trade school if you want to be an artist!

7
prancie 7 points ago +8 / -1

I agree with this, I’m a recent art graduate and it’s a very entrepreneurial degree. However art is all around everyone at every moment, it’s not a useless degree at all, especially if art programs back off the idea that all art students should pursue post-modernism at the expense of actual skill.

5
NazisWereSocialist 5 points ago +6 / -1

The school I went to required you to take WAYYYY more classes to get an art degree than say an engineering degree, I think that’s because they know they have to milk you while they’ve got you because you’ll never make any money to donate back to the school.

Learn welding, masonry, or how to be a mechanic; you'll still be able to be an artist but also have a fall back if/when you are in the lean times.

2
HiddenDekuScrub 2 points ago +2 / -0

I actually know of a rather large lot of welded art over by a tea room of all things. There's always something new there.

Wonder how much the guy makes!

1
milktoastfencesitter 1 point ago +2 / -1

I back this up from my experience. Knew a very talented artist and they couldn’t find a job anywhere that couldn’t have been done by a trade school student.

I’m sure there’s nuance, like knowing some high art shit from university may help in some cases at tour digital media website creation job, but overall the classes aren’t in sync with being employed. In fact, they teach woke BS often. So why use equal proportion of taxpayer to fund scholarships that won’t give a pragmatic ROI. Most of the breakout famous artists (non-music) that I can think of did not go to university.

4
booblitchutz 4 points ago +4 / -0

Fine Arts degrees (Art, Theater, Music) are all a complete joke. They only teach you how to be a teacher of Fine Arts and crush your creativity with their personal dogma.

"In this semester's required acting class you will all be doing scenes from plays by Chekhov, because that's my favorite 19th century modernist playwright.." groans

If you walk out of college a brilliant artist, it's because you walked in as one. All college does it teach you the pedagogy, and why not? You want to learn about art from people who teach art? What do they know except HOW TO TEACH ART.

1
murph1953 1 point ago +1 / -0

"Art follows money."

1
BlessingsofLiberty 1 point ago +1 / -0

See jazz for the music side. All the best musicians never complete college because they are touring the country for money before they are even in their mid 20s. Going to school to learn music is a sham, get some albums, some method books, and practice 8+ hours a day like it's a job.

For most careers, colleges are the other end of the "get rich quick" scheme: they sell you false promises of "job security" and that you will be able to "make it in the world" in any profession from their knowledge, instead of telling you the truth that if you want to succeed in an atypical field you should be busy working at it, and not going to classes (bonus for having a backup job during lull periods).

We should be restricting student loans to Majors that don't lead to jobs.

If I need to prequalify for a mortgage based on my income, then students she pre-qualify for a student loan based on their major.

3
zooty 3 points ago +4 / -1

Not that familiar with how student loans work but I bet a lot never get paid back and effectively become scholarships themselves.

2
McFatty7 2 points ago +3 / -1

With ruined credit for life, because there are no statute of limitations for collecting Federal student loans.

If you default, the Feds can (and do) garnish up to 15% of your wages, and that includes Social Security income if you still haven't paid it back by then.

7
Rubberbunnies 7 points ago +8 / -1

Good. End the gravy train for the shits who don’t have the chops to cut it in a real area of study.

Fake degrees were made out of jealousy by inferior flakey entitled whiners in an attempt to validate their waste-of-time Marxist bullshit and pin themselves up next to real academics. They actually make all programs in universities look worse.

3
zooty 3 points ago +4 / -1

The universities are also complicit in their desire to milk the herd of funds.

7
oakkqs 7 points ago +7 / -0

Now they need to write a bill that keeps standards high. Time to annihilate common core.

6
soMuchWinning 6 points ago +6 / -0

Did that with my own kids. Told them: You can have any major you want, but I'm only helping with certain ones. Ended up with an optometrist, and finance major and an electrical engineer. Best part: no one is living in my basement working at Starbucks.

6
RockFlagAndEagle2020 6 points ago +8 / -2

End public education , end all educational funding. Allow parents to educate their children as they see fit instead of mandates handed down from above - mandates which lead to brainwashing and a population full of idiots.

No child left behind = all children left behind. This is what the government want a large population which is ignorant, arrogant and delusional. They are a great base of mindless robots - easily swayed by propaganda because they lack any type of self sufficiency or critical thinking skills.

5
MasklessMarvel 5 points ago +5 / -0

They need to restrict student loans for majors the don't lead to jobs

3
DrinkLikeAGilmore 3 points ago +4 / -1

Govt shouldn't be giving scholarships OR loans. Let the private businesses or schools provide both, or none, themselves. Govt needs completely OUT of the business of education.

2
EMP2024 2 points ago +3 / -1

Housing, healthcare (really insurance), and housing are three major things that have seen little improvement over the years.

Why?

Because the government keeps trying to fix these things.

Housing crash caused by government regulation intended to help poor people own houses. People paying fines for not having insurance under Obama. College getting exponentially more expensive since the government took over student loans.

5
FitOfficial 5 points ago +6 / -1

It needs to go a step further. Schools need to provide a multi-year ROI for every degree they offer.

-how much are you paying overall, fees included?

-what is the average and median salary split out by job title for every position covered by your degree?

-how long will it take to pay your degree off given the above numbers with minimum payments?

-what are the employment rates for those with said degree split out by university?

They need to prove their worth. They do NONE of this currently. They sit kids down and say "sign here if you want a future" and they get off scot-free as they bury people in debt for life.

There's definitely an argument for personal responsibility, but you can't discount that the vast majority of these people have been brainwashed their entire lives that without college you're nothing. The whole system is beyond fucked.

7
FireannDireach 7 points ago +8 / -1

Many heads to this hydra. Paying for the useless degree is one thing, now let's look at employers who require degrees for jobs that don't need them. A bachelors is the new high school diploma. Requiring an admin to have a 4 year degree is lunacy, but there are companies that do it. But companies don't train anymore, so they want fully trained, good to go from day one on everything hires, because it means bigger bonuses for the executive suite. And don't get me started on the Master's nonsense. I've watched umpteen coworkers get a Masters on the company dime who are no better after getting it, than they were before. The assignments I'd see them working on were things they already knew - but they signed on. Now they have TWO degrees, and someone profited greatly from them. Then look at how colleges over the last 20 years went hard into profit. They all got fat and happy off Federal guaranteed loans, and have renovated their campuses with new buildings, labs, and more classroom space to cram even more profit...er...students into them. And, let's not talk about how students loans are being packaged as investments.

The whole thing is corrupt and designed to get kids on the interest hook for the next couple of decades of their lives. Scholarships? That's the tiny problem. God forbid we look at the big picture of how generations of teens and young adults are being hoodwinked into a financial mill around their neck. You think gender studies are worthless degrees? Show me any generic "psychology", "English" or "business" BA holder, and I'll show you someone who got sold a bridge in Brooklyn.

Bro, you have no idea; I've paid/paying my way through CompSci school by being a low level data entry accountant; essentially if you want to buy a house someone has to cut cheques from the lawyer to the business(es).
I have 6 years experience doing this, I've essentially run day-to-day operations of a lawfirm but I don't have the degree so it's exceptionally hard to get a new job or jobs. Had to take a step down at this current company; saddest part, my coworker who does the same job is a 40 year old economics major who's working in the lowest position at this company. The world is truly f---ked.

3
milktoastfencesitter 3 points ago +3 / -0

I agree the whole requirements thing is a joke, but one thing a university degree requirement kind of shows is if the applicant is able to sit quiet and focus long enough to put in 8 hours.

I understand even a college degree may not show that, but I’ve known four types of people that quit university:

  1. For personal reasons: sick family, lack of funds, etc.
  2. Entrepreneur types who said “fuck this waste of time, I’ve got an idea, let’s start a business” (or go play sports professionally)
  3. Those that either couldn’t handle the curriculum, for whatever reason. Maybe disinterest and not even intelligence.
  4. Those who couldn’t sit still long enough to write a paper or solve some math problem.

It’s the 4th one I’d like to figure out a different requirement other that of a college degree. Many office jobs are dull and you need the type that can grind through the tedious days.

I know a dude who is not a great fit for university, but when put into a hands-on trade school (actually making/doing something active), he runs circles around everyone else.

1
Truthdose 1 point ago +1 / -0

3 is typically the reason for major changes...I find 4 a bit incomprehensible...then i think about the average attention span.............

2
megxit 2 points ago +2 / -0

Companies don't train anymore because they used to be able to easily hire unpaid interns and now there's so much red tape and liability it's usually not worth it.

This is definitely failure by design.

And completely agree the things they teach are borderline useless, if not downright wrong.

2
FireannDireach 2 points ago +2 / -0

It's not red tape and liability, it's cost. I've been told that point blank by executives, who were complaining about lack of candidates, and I suggested training some.

1
megxit 1 point ago +1 / -0

I'm not disagreeing, but its more than that. Red tape increases cost to operate. And so does liability.

It's more expensive intentionally to discourage companies from doing it.

There is nothing inherently wrong with running a company for profit. It's what a company is there for. Companies do what's most profitable, not what's most fair or whatever. The laws should make doing what's best for the people in their zone (local, state or federal)

The laws make this the most profitable way to do business.

That's the problem.

MrAnderson1776 5 points ago +5 / -0

The towering edifice of the university system, which like Mordor is minting these Woke Orcs by the hour and turning them loose on civilization , is entirely dependent on the non-bankruptability of student loans.

Those universities and their Marxist professors will suck suck suck at the tits of their own undergraduates for decades and decades to come, spoiling those undergraduates chances at life - for home ownership, for starting a family, for feeling like a citizen whose hard work pays off . The students have no idea.

Understood correctly, the Marxist professors (raised fist!) are selling their students into indentured servitude for the best years of those student's lives. And they know it. The professors are living off the future paychecks of their students, summers off, then finally sailing off into the sunset with gold-plated medical and dental for life and a second home on the lake.

All these vice-provosts of diversity and deans of dorm life are pulling down good six and even seven figure salaries. And they're multiplying like mice in western Australia.

The students are at first victims, then later perps. But at 18 and 22, sorry, they're still just victims. Society tells them their professors are wise and college is good and it's all worth it- now sign here. They don't know there's no rational reason student loans aren't bankruptable and that non-bankruptability is why tuition - which has outpaced inflation for 30 years- is so high.

Young people, are, well young, OK? Even Thomas Sowell and David Horowitz were hard core Communists at that age. Being young is not a form of failing an intelligence test. They don't understand society and reality because they just can't.

And one thing they sure don't understand is the loans they are being sold by their colleges are like no other debt instrument in all of finance. These aren't loans; these are selling yourself into - literal - indentured servitude.

They are being exploited for financial security by people who should have exactly zero security based on their contribution to society. Then they are indoctrinated by those same people.

The university is a collection of parasites and the most parasitical of them all are the "X Studies" professors, but none of it could go on if student loans were treated like every single other loan is treated.

The bankruptability of student loans is the One Ring with the power to single-handedly implode the Woke Mordor of the university.

Rock it truthdose. We need to amke people understand we have the power to bring down the whole SJW factory through a simple, reasonable and morla argument that even SJWs themselves would find too tempting to resist.

Of all the cultural rot we've got going, the university system is at once the source and worst of it.

Make student loans bankruptable. Four magic simple words.

Steal my posts or any part thereof. Anything I write is open source.

We have to make people see the connection between this and the Marxist destruction of America.

Useless degrees are a virus on society, the only thing you can do with them is get a job teaching people the same useless degrees. It's a government funded multi-level marketing scheme.

1
sustainable_saltmine 1 point ago +1 / -0

I got nothing with people wanting to take these jobless things as minors, or elective classes, but don't take a major in Art History, Gender Studies and Ancient History/Languages...or things that will only ever get you maybe a teaching job or if you're exceedingly lucky a guest spot as an expert on a TV show discussing the topics. Archaeology may be cool to some but your money comes from research grants and maybe a tenured professorship.

4

How about just have the government stop funding college altogether. If businesses want college-educated employees, let them fund and run the scholarships.

3
eupraxia128 3 points ago +3 / -0

Halfway there. Now ask WHY the government is paying for any scholarships.

1
EMP2024 1 point ago +1 / -0

I could understand if the government wanted/needed people for specific jobs.

A friend of mine got state scholarships in exchange for agreeing to work for the state as a civil engineer.

I'd rather we not be funding scholarships with tax dollars, but if we do it should be merit based and for an individual that has a plan in alignment with state interests, like the above example.

But he will need strong allies if he wants to enact the same brilliant policies as President Desantis. I wish him good luck in preparation for the coming battle

2
peltast 2 points ago +2 / -0

One point, though: So many retard government jobs give preference to people with degrees. IIRC, there used to be a federal job "Clerk-Typist" that required any degree at all. It was just that, mostly clerk, little typing, or, whatever department the job did, you ended up either training for that or just hanging around, being a clerk. Same for city, state, etc...

The whole point was to have an educated civilized bureaucracy. At any rate, if the government is going to do away with 'useless' degrees (which they are), they need to do away with the useless requirement for a government job.

Shits gonna get real!!!

For the last 20+ years Indians and Chinese have come here taking our white collar jobs (tech, science, medicine, etc) yet we can’t seem to produce enough degrees for these fields.

I don’t know all the reasons why. Bu to do know funding bullshit degrees have contributed to this.

Cutting off the money for bullshit degrees is a great start.

I think it will also have the unintended consequence (or maybe intended) of taking money from the super lefty humanities. Which in the end will make our country better.

2

We really need to hold the institutions more accountable.

One of the easiest ways to ensure the value of the education paid for?

  • Make the degree/credential issuing institution the co-signer on every one of it's student's loans.

Things would turn around really quickly.

The lowest SAT scores in college for the most part end up in educational majors. Then we wonder what's wrong with the schools. Then a vast amount of the better teachers end up leaving teaching for other fields leaving mostly those that can't do anything else. A College "education" means little these days with affirmative action, sports "scholarships", and grading by the curve if any grading at all. Not to mention all the "Social degrees" in what amounts to racial studies, and basket weaving. Educated idiots with no salable skills,

So a GROWN, supposedly ADULT, is old enough to understand and sign a CONTRACT (Student Loan), but too IGNORANT to know if the major they are taking will provide ENOUGH income to support them in life???????

Parenting 101 - "Mom & Dad I want to take basket weaving as my major"

Mom & Dad - "Show me the want add, online or in the newspaper for that major"

Is it really that hard for parents to GUIDE their young ADULT kids to pick a major that will actually financially support them???????????????? SMH
