Someone asked him a question about him pushing gun control and then he went on a 5 minute long tirade about infrastructure and children's drinking fountains in schools (nothing about guns).
Looks like he screwed up the coordination of reading the wrong pre-written response to the wrong question.

All the questions were scripted. What would have happened if they were difficult questions?

Even the CNBC commentator, to his credit, literally and nonchalantly said something along the lines of " okay, there was biden in is scripted press conference..." and I was shocked. Wish I had the recording but it was immediately after biden finished and said "alright, I'm leaving" or something like that.
I was thinking the sign language interpreter had probably been told to cause a distraction if Joe went completely off the rails.
That's gotta be the hardest job in DC. It's hard enough for those of us "lucky" enough to be able to hear him. I can't imagine how senile he comes across in sign language.
It's not hard at all. I bet she just does the sign language for the transcript that he is supposed to be sticking to and excludes all the mistakes he makes.
