When the commies are in power, the filibuster is evil, racist, disenfranchising and un-democratic. When they are the minority the filibuster is the only thing keeping us from becoming a tyranny of nazis and dictators with white privilege. Did I do this right?

I'm too lazy to make a list of the times the (D) Congress used it recently, but would welcome it with open arms.

The longest filibuster in the US was done by the Democrats opposing the Civil Rights Act in 1964.

Both the filibuster and 60/40 votes in the senate are part of the founders design of checks and balances.

Except the founders never expected idiots like these becoming senators and doing whatever the hell they wanted to do for 6 years with only a popular election to win all that power.

The Senate is intended to represent the interests of the Elected State governments. So the States.. gov and legislature chose the senators to go and represent the state.

The house was meant to represent the people directly. That is why they are elected every 2 years.. so that if they prove false they can be replaced fairly quickly.

the 17th amendment took the State governments out fot he equation and created a second house of representatives, who are elected ever 6 years, and have ENORMOUS amounts of power.. I mean the amount of power you would expect a State to wield.. but instead it is whichever jackass can convince the most people to vote for them once every 6 years.

Repeal the 17th Amendment and 90% of the country's problems go away.
