I'm conflicted. My ex from high school's mom once asked me what keeps me from killing her, when asking about my religion and me revealing I am atheist. She casually responded that if it weren't for God, she would stab me with her dinner fork in a heart beat for being such a shitty person (an atheist).

I am both terrified and thankful that religion puts people like her at bay. 😂

It's a common question religious people ask atheists.

This story, in actual full detail, is ingrained into my memory because it's from the first dinner I had with my first love's parents, and the moment I realized we probably weren't going to work out.
