And it's actually a pretty good way to test and demonstrate someone's skills. This isn't the outrageous part of this story and I wait to see what really happened weeks or months from now when it comes out as we have so few details and it could just be freak weather, but the media needs its headlines.

Iranian cyber attack on the ship 100%. How do we make bets on this.

So essentially what has happened here is a failure to anchor correctly.

When large ships are waiting to enter a channel or transit path that’s limited, they go to anchor.

When a large ship drops anchor, it goes straight down with a large amount of cable (chain) then the ship reverses and allows a long portion of that chain to settle on the sea floor. It’s not the anchor that holds the ship in place, it’s the friction of dozens or hundreds of links of chain dragging on the sea bed.

When a ship does this right, it will spin in a small circle around the anchor point as the tide and the currents and the winds move the ship Around the pivot.

On that map, all of those other circles/dots are other ships successfully at anchor, or anchor points waiting for use, these sports are where ships are waiting for their turn to up anchor and move through the canal.

The fact that this ship is cutting multiple circles, tells me it failed to lay anchor correctly - either enough cable (chain) to stop movement on the sea floor, or they let too much out and the circle of drift was FAR too large.

This ship looks to have failed to anchor correctly 3 times, before letting go, and repositioning in a big arc to avoid hitting other ships, or even proceed to the canal.

The issues here with steerage are hinted at before the ship even entered the canal. They don’t let inexperienced personnel pilot through a canal. It’s a critical movement that requires experience and capable steerage. I’m calling either mechanical issues (rudder or prop issues) or just Pure and simple ineptitude.

What really surprises me is the poor response to this issue. Can’t be the first time this has happened....
