Yes that’s right. Even churches. Many Christians now fully endorse sodomy and abortion. Two sins said to “call to the heavens for vengeance”. The sins that lead God to destroy civilizations.
As a non-religious (agnostic, not atheist) pede, obviously I understand abortion, but why is sodomy that far up on the sin list? I’m sure that—whether you believe in God or not—there’s some logic, divine or earthly, behind it. But what is the logic? Is it the way that it tends to come with a lot of other society-rotting baggage, or is there something else?
I’m not deeply religious either. But I know a lot about it. There is a lot of social decay that tolerating that kind of perversion brings for sure, but that wasn’t what you asked...just wanted to clarify my position first.
So the religious logic behind it is that sexuality is a gift from god. It is one of the greatest pleasures that he has given us. But there is an order and a purpose to it. It is to create life. It is to fulfill the command “be fruitful and multiply”.
Sodomy (sex without the possibility of creating life) is unorganized lust. It is a perversion of one of God’s greatest gifts to us, existing only to fulfill selfish pleasure.
