Hello from Houston. 99% of people are still wearing the masks inside shops. I don't and have no problem. Some morons are still driving alone with their masks on and the complete Medical Center is in state of paranoia and their staff members are walking around with masks and gloves, from their buildings to their fcuking garage

But can stores refuse you service? If so then that’s the same as a mandate.

Maybe, but they never tried. I just walk in, and don't care. Don't look at people, not waiting, not explaining. Just doing my business

I was at REI in Dallas this last weekend, maskless, and needed help in the bike section. An employee walked up and asked if we had masks and we all said no. He stood his distance and continued to awkwardly help us. He went to look in the back for what we needed then suddenly the manager walks up to us. He was all super chipper and told us while we aren’t required to wear masks by law, the employees have the right to refuse to help customers who refuse to wear a mask. We told him we’d already been helped and he repeated himself again, reiterating how employees have the right to refuse service. Again, we told him thank you and that we had already been helped. It was just a very awkward experience.

Yet, I walk in Home Depot and the grocery store in my suburb and it feels somewhat normal. Home Depot especially. Masks to no mask was about 50:50 ratio.

I'm in Dallas, hello fren!

Check out Panevino off the DNT and Belt Line, no masks and delicious, reasonable food: https://www.panevinoosteria.com/

I've decided this is one of the few things we can all do...support the businesses that behave reasonably and be very vocal about where they are.

Thanks - yeah let's start a pastebin or something and get a list going starting with the D-FW area? If it grows we can do something more serious. Every time I want to go buy something I have to do that drill finding a place that doesn't require masks or wondering if I really need something so badly to don one.

I ride bikes casually which tends to be perceived as more "lefty" and I got reamed at a local Trek shop for a lvl 1 tuneup + new chain. I walked in the shop and the guy says "do you have a mask" and I was like, dammit I really need a new chain etc. and put one on. But I think he remembered that, and I was wearing my 5.11 hat too so I could just hear him thinking some faggy liberal shit in his head. Total prissy snot. Come back in and some chick with blue hair and hairy arms closes me out... just completely crap service and overpriced work.

So I found a local place in Denton that is way more chill (no mask) and cheaper. Problem solved.

I'm in the Chicago burbs. You will not be serviced/allowed to purchase without a mask. Been like that for awhile.

My wife and I visited the Knoxville area a week ago and went into a walmart...

50/50 mask no mask with no one batting an eye either way. It was surreal.

Yes, places of business can. King Abbott traded a statewide mandate for a business mandate.

If we're all smart about this and patronize zero places which require masks while spending all our money on those that don't, we'll be sending a strong message.

They can, though I think a lot of them won't bother if you go in without.

Which is also a reason that a mandate was never needed except to trying to pander to scared liberals who might make noise if you don't.

Private companies can do whatever they want.

So they can discriminate indiscriminately? Same thing as your rights being trampled

Depends on where you are - the Conservative areas do not wear masks - most restaurants don't have the mask sign and those that do, it is ignored - most places are open 100% occupancy. The Waters / staff wear masks, but that's it.

I'd say that wherever the voting map is blue, people are still blindly wearing their masks.

Amazing how many "conservative" ducks are in Texas, talk big game, and are still scared to take of their damn mask when out shopping or doing whatever. Texans, this is as easy of civil disobedience as it gets, who cares if the stores has a face muzzle policy. Walk in and take back your freedom. Literally nothing will happen.
