Not true. Exercise was always allowed within your own area. It was Victoria that went mental with their lockdown. In NSW, I've been able to play full contact sport since July 2020.
But now, Australia is basically COVID free. Sydney lifts ALL restrictions on Monday. Life has been fairly normal for us for a while now though.
Melbourne is the total police state. PC shit is rampant in the rest of the country, like it is in the rest of the world, but I'd say we are still doing better than America is on that front.
