I currently live in the shithole called Philly I'm a table games dealer so I was wondering if Tampa would be the right fit for me I planned on moving in either one of the surrounding counties or in the city since I would be working at Tampa Hardrock Casino.

You’ll have to visit both Tampa AND South Florida (Palm Beach County and south) to see where you fit.

Is there much of a difference between the two areas

Yes.

The Tampa area:

  • has more midwesterners
  • younger population = more children
  • greater area to expand into
  • more businesses (more job ops)
  • gets cooler in the Winter

South Florida:

  • has more northeasterners (NY expats abound)
  • older population
  • is bounded on the west by the Everglades
  • the Winters are dry and hard on plants - irrigation is a must

I don’t know as much about Orlando and Jacksonville but my impressions about them are:

  • because of Disney etc., Orlando has people from all over, and
  • Jacksonville is more of a Southern U.S. city and has a strong coastal culture
