An employee at a major bank in Florida was so grateful we passed 15 an hour min. She makes roughly 19 an hour and her son works in retail. She said how pleased she was that they would earn more money. I stated "how we going to make more money"? She went on to explain her 20 years of service is worth a lot more than min wage. I responded the 15 an hour is like food stamps, designed to help the poorest among us. She than asked the manager when they raise the min wage 1.5 will she get more money. To which she was told no, just the annual raise if available. It was at that moment she understood. Telling me if she could work at the zoo for 15 an hour why would she work in a high stress office. To which I responded "you wouldn't". In hind sight I should have said those making 100k would prolly get raises.

I'm at that higher end, and I am sure not getting a bump. This minimum wage bullshit needs to go.

Kids are not worth $15/hr when working in high school on the side, or starting out when they can't provide a significant benefit.

when they raise the minimum wage, they're just adding a zero to everything else, for sure..

those who already make 100k will make 200k, but the buying power of 200k will be the same as it was when we all made 100k. Those who can't survive on current minimum wage won't be able to afford ANYTHING when the price of everything goes up to match the mandated random integer the government decides is the minimum legal wage to pay out.

My wages stagnated at the higher end, I'm not earning more money, I'm still just a wage salve. If I owned the business perhaps I'd be earning relatively more money, but the way the business sees it: I earn a lot already, why give me a raise?
