I asked this question in the local papers blog. Did the City of Irvine in clued themselves in the proposed hero pay. Are they going to pay their employees $5.00 an hour in retro pay and going forward, every police officer, fireman, garbage man, street worker... of course the answer was no, they have a contract. Well the grocery stores have a contract as well. City has no place in setting artificial wage requirements for non city employees.
