MSM Media 'centers' like NYC and LA drive most of the 'crazy.' Those people are DESPERATE for 'clicks' and attention... so they will do anything or say anything to drive controversy higher and higher.

We do have some bullshit grifters in our more liberal cities, but even still most people don't have that mentality in general. The local media plays up that shit sometimes.
Otherwise it's mostly everyone gets along within reason. The only times I ever remember anyone actually trying to provoke racist bullshit were when they were either trying to get a reaction from black students (no joke, I had a friend who would do this to fuck around by calling black students the n word to their faces and other racist shit then telling them afterwards that he was just messing around and that he "loves n*****s", to my shock he's still alive last I checked.) Any other time it was just people trying to get a reaction out of the rest of the students. The only other times were when our teachers would try to invoke "the racism of US history" because just about every history class/social studies class was 95% stuff in the civil war era...
We still had groups of people who would mostly hang out with others who were part of their racial demographic but it wasn't exclusively that. Most of my friends throughout grade school were black. If anything I had more prejudice against other white people for the longest time because most of the students who were absolute assholes for little to no reason to me were white...
Public schools sucked when it came to shit like that, but honestly University proper is when I noticed more of the bullshit we see online. It's a shame really. Up until about 2015 I didn't notice too much of that stuff but when Trump took office that's when I noticed a sever left shift throughout the campus, I'm so glad I graduated not too long after. I managed to avoid having to take any bullshit SJW courses.
