We had a discussion about term limits at the Constitutional Class last night.

A good argument was made that replacing politicians every 2 or 4 years doesn't do much good because the real problems are the career staffers in DC. We know the elected officials don't even read most bills; that is left up to the real deep state.

I've also argued that this just means politicians will commit their theft more quickly.

An interesting suggestion was made for staggered term limits. A Congresscritter could serve for two terms, then has to sit out for a spell, but would be eligible for a second term afterwards. I'm sure this would solve some problems and create others.

The best solution remains shrinking the kitty so that gov't doesn't attract these crooks in the first place.
