When I was in Psychology back in 2005-2007, there was a growing schism between the social/soft science of the discipline (which is very much Psychoanalysis and the offshoots of that), and the hard science disciplines of Bio and NeuroPsych.
Those latter two disciplines are doing just fine, but most of the intelligent people in academia shifted fully to a biological focus.
What's left of "Psychology" is inexorably getting pushed into Sociology, which is essentially trash communist propaganda

So according to Social Learning Theory, it’s entirely possible that a mentally ill parent or caregiver can create a toxic environment that mutiliates a child’s identity creating an alternate gender identity.

The APA has gone off the rails here. Creating a convoluted system relating to Gender that seems to create confusion by design. They are mixing research based science with political and pseudo intellectual ideologies attempting to convince the layman of fact, but it is completely with out merit. When it comes to just the discussion on GENDER, it should only be in reference to Gender Roles in a culture. Biology influences those roles based on the social contracts established for the good of that society. Gender roles change with the times especially as the cultural values change and become more flexible. It is those organic changes that stretch the value system of those cultures that eventually find their homeostasis and continue to flourish a society. This stuff is just completely bonkers and bananas being led by a bunch of idiots who have no idea what they are doing in an attempt to elevate themselves into the intellectual echelons in a parasitical approach to the actual scientific method. This stuff causes societies to collapse.

Cool, I'm doing psychology too in another country. We aren't that bad yet but it's getting close. Last year I had to suffer through orange man bad through several subjects and I don't live in the US. A lot of focus on how bad it is to misgender someone. Pedos should be rehabilitated and released, not imprisoned. Apparently you can't all people drug addicts anymore. They are consumers. I am probs not going to continue the pathway to become a psychologist. I am too conservative.
