Right-wing obsession with taking the "high ground" has pushed us into a chasm so deep we can't get out of it without a complete reset.

Tear it down and rebuild. When the constitution is re-instated certain parts must be addressed.

1: Set a number of laws that can be on books at any time. Make sure if federal law overlaps state, that state laws are prioritized.

2: Supreme court is too Powerful. Either make them elected, or give them a term which they must serve, and a concrete way to remove them. No more life-time seats.

3: if the court system fails, Citizens shall be granted the ability to form an impromptu court for the case using publicly available information.

4: Reinforce the second amendment - compel citizens to action this time.

5: Congressional term limits enshrined in the constitution.

6: Hearings regarding impeachment now go to courts, not partisan congressmen.

7: Citizens who are targeted unfairly by any government Federal, State, or Local shall be allowed to ignore issued penalties.

8: NO. MORE. FOREIGN. LOBBYING

A medical freedom amendment would be a good idea. Something along the lines of the government shall not force medical procedures on the people.

This.

Theoretically speaking, my new constitution would address not just government, but ALL centralization of power. In the world of social media and urbanization, we now have companies that are big enough to form governments or government-like entities in and of themselves. This wasn't an issue as much in the late 1700s but with Industrialization came growth of private citizens.

You want to empower private citizens. You want to endow, and encourage personal wealth. HOWEVER. Should you become the next Google you too must be subject to these constitutional rules. Rights must extend to all, whether you're government, or large private entity.

How about an end to ALL lobbying. If you choose to run for public office, maybe every cent you earn or benefit from should be recorded and put on display. Lobbyism

Better yet, after you’re out of public office you should be barred from “advisory” services akin to lobbying under the books

Yes, I’m calling you out Eric Cantor.

Sure but you also don't want elections to be limited mostly to people who already have wealth.

Honestly if you are going to be a Congressmen, I don't think it's too much to ask that you're on video nearly 24/7. Like shit we should be able to see EVERYTHING you do. Don't like it? Don't run for office.

You don't' want the Supreme Court to be a direct popularity contest I assure you of that. This is why they are not "elected".

Term of 18 years. Give them lifetime pay and benefits, forbid them from working after term has ended.

Incase of death, replacement shall serve remainder of original term.

At this point I'd like to see the Supreme Court disbanded and it's current members imprisoned for the rest of their terms.

Have them appointed by the states like the Senators originally were.

Ladies and Gentlemen may I introduce the first of many of the new founding fathers. Time to reconvene the continental congress.

The annual purge to be considered.

You know... one or two years of an annual purge would solve a ton of problems. Guess who would be the first to go.

agreed. too many boy scouts in congress who think its there responsibility to "listen" to the other side in good faith. they wrongly believe the other side is also operating in good faith and not lying to them.

its like when a black person passionately cries "they're hunting us down!" too many republicans will say "well, there must be something to this!" and not enough will say "that's not really true".
