I wouldn't be too sure. I think Manchin realizes the Democrats may be imploding on so many issues like transgenders, the military, immigration and a few others that he might use this as an opportunity to advance himself within the party. The Democrats already owe him a kings ransom for never working with Trump and this appointment is peanuts. Manchin's a crook, but he's as shrewd a crook as any out there.
