bad info.

the owner of the previous domain refused to transfer ownership to the mods here due to some internal squabble. there was an AdamCast IRL episode about it.

anyway, the mods here were threatened by the owner of the prior domain airing dirty laundry and thus made the (smart) move to buy their own domain and transition before they could be fucked over much how the exodus from reddit happened.

im not knocking the owner of the old domain and im not siding with the mods here. just stating what i know and throwing in some opinion.

in terms of what is currently parked on the old domain Louis Rossmann is an independent repair guy who works on apple products and has recently shifted to commentary about his experiences in new york. he is pretty politically neutral in terms of the tribalism but he calls it like he sees it and i respect the fuck out of him for it. i would say hes in many ways based and is worth watching his content. he is actually giving serious thought to bailing on new york and moving elsewhere. may pull a Daily Wire and move to nashville although i heard shapiro cucked and moved to florida instead while the rest of the daily wire is in tennessee.

back on track, Rossmann is the face of "right to repair". apple and others are serializing their parts so even if you have two identical iphones and swapped cameras between them, the software would lock you out of using them because the serial numbers didnt match thus forcing you to go to an Apple store for repair and paying a fuckton more for the repair. this puts independent repair people out of work basically and it is totally a power play by apple. what apple is doing is bad for the customer because it goes to show you really dont own the product. you pay high prices for it and have no choice where to take it the minute it goes wrong (and this is withstanding the planned obstanance that Apple is guilty of such as intentionally slowing down the processors on older iphones supposedly to help battery life). anyway, rossmann is fighting for the right to let users take their phones or devices to local guys for repairs that would cost a fraction of what Apple would charge. this is like buying a car and only being able to take it back to a Ford dealer for an oil change even though billy bob who has been working on cars longer than the dealership in your town has been around could and gladly would change the oil for half the price of the dealership.

I recommend watching rossmanns videos.

so there is my $0.02

...and as always, i hope you learned something.

On point. I'd also add that the Right to Repair is a serious Consumer Rights issue that is the EXACT OPPOSITE of "commie" propaganda.
