Honestly they could just bomb the fuck out of it I like to think. Fuck the ship and the cargo, the cost in delays is far more expensive. I think Carnegie got his big break by insisting a derailed train be quickly destroyed as the goods in it and the salvage were worth far less than the downtime to the railroad.

Easier said than done. You'd need to get a massive crain out to the middle of the dessert. Have you looked at how incredibly huge the ones in our ports are?
