"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that." ~George Carlin

This is my favourite quote. I used it not two days ago to describe the voters in my last state election here in west Australia that handed unprecedented majority to a lockdown obsessed maniac.

Younghappy -3 points ago +2 / -5

We (fellow Western Australian) have had literally one month total of lockdowns since this shit started over a year ago, and whether or not you support that we've had less than a thousand cases and NINE deaths. I never voted Labor before this election, as I'm assuming you didn't either, but there is no coherent explanation you can come up with to paint McGowan as some mad dictator in comparison to what some of our American frens have seen in their states. "Lockdown obsessed maniac"? Come off it.

Closed borders, mask mandates and lock downs hours after a single (false positive) case, that lasted two weeks after it was discovered that no one was sick and we didn't have any community transmissions or positive cases....

Area lock downs preventing travel outside of metro or the regions for months even though we didn't have any cases. Gyms being shut for months, bars and restaurants restricted to takeout and then heavy numbers restrictions for months after no community transmissions or cases in the general population...

I don't know if you have driven through an industrial area recently, but like the strips of bars and cafes, there are a shit ton of for sale/lease signs sitting in empty properties.

We may not have been locked down in the sense of many around the world. But for a state that "had less than a thousand cases and NINE deaths", I think there is plenty of grounds for calling Mark McGowan a petty dictator and the population of Western Australia morons for giving him a 53 to 6 advantage.

Try living in the People's Republic of Victoria mate.

I live in non-labor seat ... and I sure as shit didn't vote for Comrade Dan. Our recent council elections were ... shall we say an affirmation that not everyone in Victoria is a brainwashed regressive.

I can't speak for the rest of the state, but Melbourne is fucked completely, and that's entirely down to our labor comissars handing over quarantine to their mates (and no doubt receiving generous 'donations' as a result).

But I'll give good odds that the same labor party that fucked the state completely during this farcical pandemic will be reelected next time around. And the reason is that (like the US) there's really not a lot about the opposition to like ... Morrison has failed to impress.

Before he was premier Marxist McGowan was a smug, elitist prick who wanted Australia to more like China, and nothings changed - he still is a smug marxist loving prick who wants everyone under state oppression.

Dont worry.if a real pandemic comes thru you wont need to be told to do that stuff.

Even not-stupid people can be easily confused.

I had a canine born to a wolf/husky hybrid and sired by an illiterate coyote (totally ignored the "No Trespassing" signs). When asked what kind of dog it was, my mom started to say, "He's one third wolf..." - and she studied genetics.

See, A&W missed a golden opportunity here. They should have come up with the '2/8 pound burger'. Bigger numbers, bigger profit.

This is why sociologists are only required to take 3 pre-school-level math courses for their degree. Bunch of jokes.

he knows it isn't really a 1/4 pound of beef. right? It's just called the quarter pounder. In Europe, due to the metric system, they do not call it the quarter pounder. For example, in Paris it is called the Royale with Cheese. The Big Mac is called Le Big Mac.

8
Kn33l2Dominion 8 points ago +8 / -0

What? They are a quarter pound of beef. Stop saying stupid shit.

3
Saremei 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yep. They are the weight they are called before cooking. Just like the 2×4 plank is 2" by 4" right after sawing, but 1.5" by 3.5" after drying out before you can buy it.

3
Kn33l2Dominion 3 points ago +3 / -0

Completely misread this. Disregard my original response.

LOL YES.

Vincent that is some fucked up repugnant shit! I will never forgive your ass for this!

fegeline 3 points ago +4 / -1

Burger size in metric system is measured by gram, common sizes would be 90gram (1/5 pound) for a kids meal and 150gram (1/3 pound) for a skinny adult. A&W should have tried the European model as 150 sounds much bigger than 90.

5
Truglow 5 points ago +5 / -0

A&W was the shit when I was a kid.

2
residue69 2 points ago +2 / -0

A&W in the 70's and early 80's was so good. The new A&W's in Canada kind of compare, but don't measure up to the old ones. Still better than most fast food there though.

McDs was pretty good then too. They still fried their french fries in Formula 47 (beef tallow).

4
Olds77 4 points ago +7 / -3

Or maybe it failed, because noone liked going to A&W. The best product doesn't always win and just because it was cheaper doesn't mean it failed because of the consumers misunderstanding. Honestly marketers are the most worthless humans on earth.

11
Coolgenner 11 points ago +12 / -1

A&W was a much better burger.

2
Kn33l2Dominion 2 points ago +2 / -0

Look around you. People are that stupid.

7
PikachuJohnson 7 points ago +7 / -0

Exactly. When I realized that there are millions of people who genuinely don't think there's anything wrong at all with the official tally showing 120% voter turnout in the 2020 election is when I lost my faith in humanity.

God, I know about the promise with the rainbow, but please send a flood, or at least a meteor, or a black hole, or something to end this pandemic of retardation.

Mc Donald’s knows it’s audience they sell a rib sandwich and have a guy in white face as the mascot.

2
Saremei 2 points ago +2 / -0

Ive always seen this bit of false information hanging around. No it wasn't because people mistook it. It wasbecause A&W burgers were trash by comparison. A&W remains the only place I've ever witnessed my burger being pulled from a freezer and microwaved. And it tasted like a sad microwave burger.

2
lmao 2 points ago +2 / -0

shoulda could it the 2/6 pound burger

4
lmao 4 points ago +4 / -0

then the competition would rename theirs to 3/12 pound burger

4
Shield 4 points ago +4 / -0

Then fools will have slipped into a common denominator and you can call yours the 4/12 pound burger. Check and mate.

3
lmao 3 points ago +3 / -0

6/24 it is then!

A&W is decent quality for what it is. I don't eat out much but when the family and I are traveling, we will stop there for a good old American drive thru meal.

Ive come across people that dont know how the 10-, 12- and 20- gauge shotguns get their names, and think the bigger numbers mean bigger guns.

1
glow-operator-2-0 1 point ago +1 / -0

Wasn't gauge the number of rods or balls or something needed to total up to a set size? Like 1 lbs or 1 inch?

1
Junionthepipeline 1 point ago +1 / -0

Gonna go ahead and press x to doubt on that being the reason it failed.

5
IncredibleMrE1 5 points ago +6 / -1

It IS the reason. They quite literally did a study to figure out why. https://www.mentalfloss.com/article/76144/why-no-one-wanted-aws-third-pound-burger

6
when_we_win_remember 6 points ago +6 / -0

Shoulda just called it the extra big-ass burger

3
Shield 3 points ago +3 / -0

Not gonna lie, I could really go for an extra big-ass burger right now.

2
ronnietherocket 2 points ago +2 / -0

Or the quarter pounder XL.

4
Searcher 4 points ago +4 / -0

That's a small sample group, and A&W doesn't have the exposure that McDonalds has. I think I know of maybe 1 or 2 A&W locations that I would have to drive at least 30 minutes to get to. I can get to 3 different McDonalds in about 5 minutes. People being stupid is a problem, sure. But this is ultimately a failure of marketing and real estate and maybe food quality. I can't say McDonalds has better food, I wouldn't know, I haven't been to an A&W since I was a kid because there are so few locations.

However, the burger likely failed because of a their inferior business model, not because maffs

1
funwithguitars 1 point ago +1 / -0

This really does prove the ignorance of the general public. Leading to me thinking how horrible our schools are. And now we know how the chinese sold so many fidget spinners.

2
Cubey 2 points ago +2 / -0

If that was the reason it failed you could just make a 1/8 lb burger and beat the hell out of Mcdonalds.

1
Saremei 1 point ago +1 / -0

Agreed fully. A&W has never been all that popular. Every time in my life that I went, I was disappointed. McDonalds was already consistently reliable.
