Honestly if they do that and issue these free to people per their SSN then I feel like both sides would be fine with it. I'm sure plenty will holler about "My tax money!" but it'll be a percent of a fraction of what it costs for anything else in the budget and solves the whole fucking problem in one swoop.
Actually not even free, just subsidize a bit of the cost and on your tax forms put "$3 to use your tax information and receive a federal ID card?" would work. Anybody can spare a few bucks at tax return time, and those that don't get a return can definitely spare it.
I got into this argument on Reddit Politics this week on an old account(banned now). They all argued with me there are actually functioning adults without ID despite it being virtually impossible to live. I baited a large chunk into a trap after awhile from thier answers that they'd to agree, if it was federally funded, free and easy. I'm 100% for it if it takes away excuses. Nobody doesn't have one already that participates in society.

I was more comfortable in a slum growing up around black people being the only white guy playing dice on the street than most being around most white people cause it was fun and being eccentric I was loved. Although id honestly argue weve exceeded it. We are hiring literally by skin color now, but instead of it being a secret like in the 30s some black guy is told they stopped hiring when they didnt, racism is now institutionally backed by government and corporations and they just say it openly.
I mean I got the same 6 or so best friends since middle school. One is white, growing up in NY they're all liberal but one. They all agreed when I pointed out I never thought of them as whatever skin shade they are or me being white. This is a new thing shoved in our face. Growing up we where just friends
I wish that was true. I lived near the swamp and many many many of them vote Dem. They're unionized and can't be fired even if they poop on the conference room desk. They just shuffle them around or promote them. It's white collar welfare.
you can't even speak against the government in mexico if you are not a citizen, mexico's immigration laws are very tough. Why can't the US do the same?
