There will be a run on those devices and gps blockers that will make the toilet paper famine of 2020 look like child’s play.

I already own one and most people won’t be willing to fork out $2,500 to $6,000 depending on the scan tool. I have one because I use it for work.

I bought it from another mechanic for next to nothing and I don’t have a tool bill. I do mechanic work as a hobby anymore.

I guarantee that if there is a mileage tax, the code kids will figure out a way to do it with a thumb drive.

I own a small contracting business with my father and all the trucks we run are old enough (20+years) where I can physically turn the numbers back because they aren’t digital. And they still all look great because my dad bought them brand new and we’ve kept great care of them ever since knew one day that would come in handy 😂

Better stick to an older model vehicle. Far far away from anything that will soon connect to 5g.

Honestly this is never going to happen. I am sure a lot of contracts and graft will be given out, and "studies" will be undertaken, but can you imagine the logistics of trying to get every car in America to have some kind of untamperable unremoveable mileage tracking device?

Government sucks at everything they do, even more so when technology is involved. Remember the Obamacare website? How many billions did they spend on that unworkable piece of shit? 2-5 billion? For a website?

This is just misdirection to get people talking about this and stop talking about something else.

Hope everyone will enjoy their future "smart cars" that track everything at all times. Where you are. When you drive. Your conversations in the car. Totally not hackable either....

if this is being done to force the electric and NG vehicles to "pay" for their infrastructure use, then transponder them and leave the rest of us alone.
