The problem with leftists is that they believe in an unobtainable fantasy. I think even gun enthusiasts would agree that a world where guns did not exist is preferable to one where they do - at least in terms of the violence that can be inflicted on other human beings. But that's not reality. It hasn't been reality for centuries and it never will be again. Guns will always exist. Making it more difficult or impossible for law-abiding citizens to own and operate firearms only emboldens people who have never had any regard for the law.

I disagree. No guns means the strong can inflict whatever violence they wish on the weaker, and weaker have no immediate means of protection. Guns allow me to defend myself from a stronger attacker.
