I really want to see a debate on a middle/left leaning network(compared to cnn/vice/vox), that is started by asking why we don’t have an easily accessible and cheap/paid for way for “rural and inner city” impoverished citizens to obtain a state ID.

When I say easily accessible, I don’t mean you can just show up without a birth cert/social security card/proof of residence and get your ID.

I mean take a mobile station to places without lots of government funding and buildings to get people the correct ID, and in the cities set up tents (like Obama phones, but with ID printers) so that Voter ID will not be “racist” anymore.

It is seriously such a common sense concept that in ANY government election a proper identification and signature check be used. If someone is illiterate and can’t replicate their signature, I’m not sure they pass the modern standard for voting.

If you need an ID to send money to a stranger, you should need an ID to elect strangers to office.
