In all seriousness, the current crop is terrible and I can understand why companies would not want to hire American...(i'm not saying your place did but this is just in general)

I have heard this argument before for tech fields ...I wish i had saved the post(s) for the response to this...
Basically it was something like..."...What your boss means is that he can't find people that will work for him at the (low) pay he is offering for these jobs"
Well, most of the good people in the field are contractors/freelance, and we don't work for peanuts.
They can't get local 'permie' staff at the salaries they are paying - that's true to some extent but only because it's way below the contract rate. The permie pay is still pretty attractive to most people, the only reason they don't get the jobs is because you have to work for it and locals now think everything should come to them.

I'm in the UK, and there just isn't enough local talent to fill all the positions in my line of work, so companies have to look elsewhere.
