Dave Ruben did a show on education and one of the mothers is now home schooling her children.
She made the point that schools no longer educate children, they school (indoctrinate them). Given what they are now teaching is schools, this is very true. No wonder the US ranks 27th in the world. There are those that set out to make the US average and they have succeeded.
DC apparently spends $31,000 per child per year and look at the results.
Yes. That's how we got to Now.
But what EVER you do, DON'T blame the unionization of the doctrinate perveyors, that would be racist.
This is where communist infiltration of our country started and was the strategy from the beginning.
Depends on the state. In Illinois the state is pushing down more woke curriculum as “mandated units of study”
I am just horrified that this woke curriculum made it into the schools.
DC and Maryland have dreadful results in proficiency of both math and reading.
Yet now the left, instead of helping these students, have decided to teach them that math is racist. It is insane. The black community needs to push back and start to understand the extent to which the Democrat party uses and manipulates them.
Schools have always been indoctrinating but in recent years on a much larger scale and are no longer hiding it. I moved my son from one public school to another because of it. The school in my city had a principal that would high 5 any black student that graduated and all others nothing. If you send a kid to a public school you need to reeducate and teach the truth with things like history and science mainly two genders.
These days they are now saying math is racist.
There is apparently no end to what the Democrats can attribute to race.
We now have segregation because somehow it has become acceptable because Blacks are calling for it.
We are going to need a few lawsuits calling from equality. Strangely, Nelson Mandela actually told Whites in South Africa that the day may come where they needed to rise up to have their voices heard.
I have not heard the Nelson quote but it is ringing true for today.
Legit, who does the schools help now? Teaching the world is racist and that you need to fight back, while also not teaching the skills that would allow you to rise above. All it does is create a generation of useless activists with no skills that society demands. In fact that is what we already have, and when their life sucks because they don’t have the skills to make their lives better and make bad decisions, they blame everything but the education system. They blame everything but their communist teachers who filled their heads with bullshit.
I am currently studying to get a minor in economics and one of my teachers is a Keynesian interventionist leftist and another is probably a member of the Chinese communist party. I’ve learned more from reading Thomas Sowell’s basic economics and watching George Gammon than both of those classes. This is my one hope: with a move to online education and other resources... real job skills and developments will be able to rise to the top in terms of educating. As a game developer, I plan to do my part in this field by developing educational games that teach real world skills, so that the kids learn enough to make their lives good enough that they don’t have to be rampaging activists.
What a great objective. Wish you lots of luck in doing something worthwhile.
Oh how I wish you could take classes from a college econ prof I know! A conservative at a liberal college. She is black so maybe that's why they hired her.
I had a great econometrics teacher, though and my game theory teacher was alright (thick accent though). In regards to economics, I think Austrian economics on the basis of study of human action is better than the abstractions of Keynesian economics.
Keynesian economics also plays into the justification of economic interventionism and I believe that the government intervening in the economy has made the crashes worse and the booms not as big. Monopolies are a natural problem, but the government’s solutions to them have been, well improper. Other market failures like externalities are improperly derived, which is to say: “how do you know that I am not factoring in the externality when I make my purchase, there’re people out there who purchase less of something if it hurts other people and more of something if it helps other people”.
I just think, when you start explaining economics in plain English instead of all the Keynesian abstractions, you discover that things aren’t so simple.
yeah that's not a question.
Ive got three kids almost out of college age now. School used to be about reading writing arithmetic, and our schools were pretty bad at that for the last ten years. To think that these commies are now moving woke teaching into the already depleated ability to teach anything at all is amazing. Teachers seem to be lazy and annoyed for the most part, and the only good teachers for my kids seemed to be the older ones about to retire. Chew on that now.
The social agenda has become more important to the left than academics.
No wonders schools in the Blue States are generally doing so badly.
