When I was a little bitty baby my momma would rock me in the cradle, in them old cotton fields at home. It was down in Louisiana just about a mile from Texarkana...
it is strange when you realize lead belly wrote 90% of the popular songs we all know that were redone by CCR or others https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSnuMaA7duo That is why kurt cobain was so obsessed with lead belly/
Long time ago, with my girlfriend I played Dolly Pardon's song "I will always love you"... she had only heard the Whitney Houston version, she didn't like it very much knowing one of her favorite songs was originally from a country singer LOL
aint nothing wrong with country either, Cash, Twitty, Williams Sr and Jr, Merl Haggard, Roger Miller even...Elvis was going to originally do country, and Cash was originally trying to do rock and roll. they go hand in hand.....
There actually arent that many poor people in this country. The amount is grossly overstated by the census bureau since they dont include welfare when trying to determine if someone is poor.
And since welfare benefits aren't taxable, people on welfare have a lot more spending power and live more comfortably than working class Americans who make just over the income level to qualify for benefits.
So low income working Americans who are not counted as "poor" have a lower standard of living than the folks who are "poor."
This is one reason that people aren't motivated to take low level jobs to get off welfare. It pays better to not work! And this was true even before the extra unemployment benefits that were enacted last year. Those benefits only made the "welfare cliff" taller.
